CASA DE PIEDRA

SCOPE: ARCHITECTURE + INTERIOR DESIGN
STATUS: PROJECT
Casa de Piedra is a weekend retreat set along the Pacific coast of Acapulco.
The project began with an existing structure, not as something to replace, but something to understand. The intention was to preserve its material integrity and original spirit, while reimagining it as a more grounded and enduring space.
Rather than building over it, the intervention works alongside it. Layers of dry stacked local stone and tropical hardwood are introduced with restraint, establishing a dialogue between what was already there and what needed to evolve. The result is not contrast, but continuity.
Light is treated as a primary element. It moves across surfaces throughout the day, revealing the texture of the stone, softening the weight of the materials and shaping the atmosphere of the space.
The house is intentionally quiet. A reduced palette of concrete, earth and wood allows time to become visible in the way materials age, in the way shadows shift, in the way the space settles into its surroundings.
Casa de Piedra is not designed to stand apart from its context, but to belong to it, open to the horizon, the changing shoreline and the steady rhythm of the Pacific.
A place to arrive and to remain.
